SACRED MUSIC

Mrs. Jean Layman     Music Director

Ms. Eileen Stambaugh    Organist

Sacred music at Springfield Baptist involves the Chancel Choir, Adult & Student Praise Teams, Children's Choir, Bell Choir, and a wide variety of solo and ensemble vocals and instrumentals.

CHANCEL CHOIR.   The Chancel Choir presents worship anthems weekly September through June and leads congregational singing.    They rehearse every Thursday evening at 7:30pm.   To join you must be born-again, committed to make worship music throughout the year, have vocal ability and able to take direction.   The Chancel Choir presents an entire cantata at both Christmas and Easter.   Additionally the choir presents a "favorite anthem" worship service in June.

THE BELL CHOIR.  Our Bell Ringers present worship music about once a month from September through May.   Currently we have three full octaves of bells.

PRAISE TEAMS.  The SBC Praise Team leads the opening praise singing during Sunday Worship.  Our Youth Praise Team leads singing during Youth meetings and at times leads the singing during morning worship.

CHILDREN’S CHOIR.    Led by our Music Director, Jean Laymen, 3 or 4 times each year the children practice and sing for the congregation during the Worship Service.  They also have sung for special services and holidays.  Recently Jean has been including older children as soloists during the service.
